Scotty Lago — Apologize and Go … Or Just Go!

If Scotty Lago didn't volunteer to leave the Olympics, he'd have been told to leave by the U.S. Olympic Committee … this according to sources close to Lago.

Lago offered up an apology after a mildly suggestive photo of him — using his bronze medal for snowboarding to score chicks — popped up on the Internet. He agreed to leave the Olympic Village on his own accord, but sources close to Lago tell TMZ he received an ultimatum from the U.S. Olympic Committee: either say you're sorry and go … or get ejected from the Olympic Village.

As for when we might hear from Lago himself … we're told he's in a “blackout period” — meaning he can't talk about the incident at all until March 3.

A call to the USOC was not returned.

One of my Twi-besties Lauren (aka @respectkstewx), one of the biggest KStew fans around, hit the red carpet at the BAFTAs last night in London.  Apparently Rob and Kristen were rushed past her area without stopping.  But she still managed to get a photo of Rob, of Jamie Bower, and Anna Kendrick stopped by for a photo and an autograph! Cute!

These convincing looking shots of the new 2010 Audi RS5 have leaked onto the internet a week ahead of the car’s official unveiling at the 2010 Geneva motor show.

Audi RS5: the tech story

The brochure information we’ve seen doesn’t yet spill the tech lowdown on the new RS5. But CAR understands the top-dog A5 will be powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 with around 450bhp and 332lb ft. That’s supported by these scooped photos, revealing a high-revving redline around 8200rpm.

It looks like only an automatic S tronic transmission will be available at first, judging by these pictures. They also suggest that four different alloy wheels options will be offered.

A soft-top version of the Audi RS5 is expected in due course, although Ingolstadt is launching with the more focused, sportier coupé pictured. Prices are set to top £60,000 in the UK.

So where’s this new Audi RS5 leak sprung from?

We were alerted to the Audi RS5 by Autoblog and Ausmotive.com. The leak proves that CAR’s original RS5 cover story scoop from October 2008 (final photo above) was remarkably accurate; Audi hotly denied the existence of plans for a go-faster A5, but we’ll finally see the RS5 for real on 2 March 2010.

It’s yet another example of official embargos being blown wide open, demonstrating the difficulty manufacturers face in keeping their publicity timetables in the leaky internet age. We’ll have the first official news and pictures of the RS5 in the coming days ahead of Geneva.

Sick of staring at that old square tube television that's been collecting dust in your living room? If you're ready to make the leap to a High Definition Television (HDTV) but are unsure of just what to look for, then this article is for you.

What is HDTV exactly?

To understand HDTV it is probably best to first look at a standard definition tube TV set. The average tube TV displays an image in 480i format. That translates to 480 vertical lines, of an interlaced image. The aspect ratio is 4:3 making the screen appear nearly square.

HDTV's have a much higher screen resolution that produces a far superior image. There are three current standards for HDTV's and they again refer to the amount of vertical lines: 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All three HDTV standards support 5.1 surround sound and are broadcasted in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

In general, the higher the resolution the better the picture will look. A progressive image is almost always better than an interlaced one. The only caveat to this rule is that the screen may flicker during fast action sequences of a progressive image.

Most current HDTV's display 720p and 1080i resolutions, the higher priced ones usually offer 1080p.

Tube vs. Plasma vs. LCD HDTV's

Tube HDTV's only have one thing going for them, they display the best shade of black. Beyond that, they are extremely heavy and no less expensive than plasma or LCD HDTV's. They are limited in screen size by the weight of the tube. I would not recommend a tube HDTV for anyone.

Plasma HDTV's on other hand do have many benefits. They are often less expensive and display a better shade of black than their LCD HDTV brethren. Plasma HDTV's also excel at displaying fast motion with minimal screen flicker.

Plasma HDTV's do however have some drawbacks to consider. They are susceptible to screen burn-in and not recommended for gamers. The life of a plasma HDTV is much less than an LCD. Once the Plasma gas is gone, it is gone and image quality will literally be cut in half. Plasma HDTV's are also difficult to install. If they are tilted past a certain angle (while boxed or otherwise) the television can be ruined. Professional installation and delivery is the smart way to go when dealing with plasma TV's.

For the sports fan who wants to watch Sunday football games in HD, plasma is probably for you. Everyone else should be in the market for an LCD HDTV.

LCD HDTV's are the way to go for just about everyone. They do not suffer from burn-in issues, and have a longer lifespan while maintaining the same picture quality as they had from day one. The lamps on them (which Plasma HDTV's also have) are the only thing that might need replacing, but with a 60,000 hour lifespan it won't be anytime soon. Prices are coming down on LCD HDTV's and a typical 42″ TV weighs about 70 lbs.

HDTV Buying Tips

There are two options for cables, either component cables or HDMI cables. HDMI cables are a little more expensive but much easier to work with.

When buying an HDTV stick with the three S's: Sony Bravia, Samsung, or Sharp. These three brands produce the best televisions and have the best image quality by far.

To get the most out of your HDTV you need to receive an HDTV signal. This means you need a HDTV cable or satellite box or an HDTV antenna to pickup up over the air HD signals. I would suggest getting a Bluray or HDDVD player as well.

Bluray is way ahead in the HDDVD war. The Sony PS3 is one of the least expensive Bluray players on the market and is the perfect addition for your new HDTV.

The best piece of advice I can offer is to wait until you can afford a few hundred extra dollars to get a bigger and better television. Don't settle for a bottom of the line 37″. Instead wait a few months and buy the 42″ or larger that you really want. You'll thank yourself later.

Digital Camera for Kids Called Kid-Tough Digital Camera is the Hot New Holiday Toy

Digital Cameras

There are many different digital camera's out on the market now, and so many different styles to choose from.  But what if you have never owned a digital camera?  And are you interested in maybe purchasing one soon to replace your regular 35mm film camera?  Making the choice to switch over to digital is something many people choose to do every day.  Main reasons come from all the benefits involved in digital over film.  Professional photographers may prefer to stay with film cameras, however, because of their unique ability to capture a specific color or an amazing way to portray an object in such a way as to bring out the significance of it.  But we aren't talking about something as difficult to photograph as the Mona Lisa was to paint.  This is about taking pictures of loved ones with the family, or your child's soccer game.  If this is something you've had on your mind, then it's time to start thinking about the advantages.

Many digital cameras in our present day almost always take SD cards.  These are also known as Secure Digital cards (SD) and can hold anywhere from 4mb to 4Gigs.  The term MB stands for Megabyte, and the term Gig stands for Gigabyte.  If you are not sure how big these things are, then take this for example:

Most digital cameras take snap shots at 3.0 Mega Pixels or higher (The explanation to this will come later.)  and to take the picture, it needs an average of 1 MB to take the picture.  So if you were to have a 4 MB SD card, you would only be able to take about 3 pictures.  But to think if you had a 4 Gig SD card, you would have thousands more pictures.  A gig is 1000 MB's, so a 4 Gig SD card would hold about 4,000 pictures on one small card.

Now a Mega Pixel is the image quality that is produced from the camera.  Your typical Digital camera is about 3.0 MP's to 8MP's.  The higher Mega Pixel cameras don't use too much more room on the memory card, but you may want to go with a higher memory stick.  The recommended one for 3-5 mega pixel camera users is 256mb if you are just a mom or pop who takes pictures of your kids at the games, or family reunions.

Personally, I love to take pictures.  I carry with myself two 512MB memory cards but rarely use more than one of them.  With the resolutions starting to come up higher and higher these days, its recommended now that you run out and buy a 512MB card.

Going back to the memory cards, there is more than one style besides the SD.  There is also Compact, MS, XD, Pro Duo, and a few others.  Other than SD, not many cameras take the other style of memory stick seeing as SD is the most widely used.

Now thinking about pricing, you really have to think about what the camera will be used for.  Is this something you will be taking out of the case every other week, or every other day?  If you are one who likes to take pictures to capture all these certain special moments, then you may want to get a nice quality camera, but with not as many mega pixels to save space on your memory card.  The higher the MP, the higher the price.  Today's high-end models with 5 mega pixels are on sale at Fry's Electronics for an expensive $199.  But think if you really need all the mega pixels, or if you could do without them like most people can.  It really is just a waste of space on the camera, and the only thing that can come out of it is a better picture quality if you were to zoom in a lot.  A 3 Mega Pixel camera could do that just as easily, just as my own personal camera.  I have a Canon Powershot A510.  I originally had a Canon Powershot A410, however I also like to take short clips of video, and the A410 did not have a microphone, so I upgraded to one that did.  Personally, I'd never shoot for anything more than 4 Mega Pixels, and no more than $120.  That's exactly how much I paid for my A510, and it has served me well.

One last thing to be completely aware of is the battery.  Seek a camera that can last with a decent battery.  I notice a lot that the Canon's and some Sony brand cameras have battery savers, and are great quality with barely using any juice.  Also think about the purchase of rechargable batteries with more than 2000Mh as they last almost 4x as long as regular batteries.  I have been able to take over 1000 pictures with my camera and haven't needed to replace the rechargable batteries I got once!

All in all, try to keep your mind open to places to buy, what your looking for, ease of camera usage, prices, and battery life, and you will be doing fine.  Here are some following recommendations for places to buy, camera preferences, and many other things:

Buying
www.ebay.com - I know, it's an auction site, but the prices are almost unbeatable.
Best Buy usually has camera's out for display and with pretty good pricing.  Try out the camera's to see which one fits you!
Office Max also allows people to try out the cameras in their store front.

Great Battery Life cameras:
When it comes right down to it, you should read up the reviews for the camera you have been thinking about getting to see what kind of battery life it has.  I wouldn't shoot for anything that only can shoot about 100 photos per pair of AA's.  Try www.epinions.com for their unbiased reviews and also battery life reviews!

Memory Cards:
SD
256MB - Good size, allows for family's to take about 200 photos.  Plenty for family reunions or just around the house
512MB - Great size!  About 550 photos on a 3 MP camera.  This is the one most people would shoot for with high-end camera's!
1+ Gig - This is one of the biggest sizes out there, and at a fairly affordable price, it is recommended for those who just can't stop shooting!  Be aware of the time to save to the card as it will be pretty big, and to access it may take a bit longer on the computer.

All in all, the one place I highly recommened to check up on for all cameras you may consider purchasing,  go to
www.epinions.com first.  You will be thankful you did, and greatful for having read up on digital camera's before going off and purchasing one.  Good luck with your hunt for the perfect camera for your family or life!

This 12.2 megapixel point-and-shoot offers unprecedented value for the casual shooter with a versatile 28mm wide-angle, 5x optical zoom lens, Dual Image Stabilization, and Samsung's full range of smart features packed in a slim, compact frame.

“Samsung is elevating the stature of its SL-Series with models such as the new SL630,” said Mr. SJ Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “With Samsung's SL-Series, consumers can now enjoy features such as wider-angle lenses with longer zooms, as well as technologies such as Smart Auto, which brings incredible value to the consumer while at the same time, giving them the ability to take their creativity to new levels and take great photos.”

Impressive Optics

The Samsung SL630 offers an exceptional 28mm wide-angle Samsung lens which provides consumers with a 5x optical zoom (28mm-140mm / 35mm equivalent), giving users the ability to capture more of a desired scene from farther away.

Consumers will benefit from Samsung's Dual Image Stabilization (IS) technology, which gives them the ability to capture crystal-clear images by combining both Optical and Digital Image stabilizers to produce sharp images. The Optical IS intelligently compensates for hand trembling by shifting the lens in the opposite direction. When Optical IS isn't quite enough, the Digital IS automatically takes over to ensure virtually blur-free images.

Smart Automatic Controls and Video Recording

Samsung's SL630 comes fully equipped with an array of automatic controls, including Samsung’s advanced scene recognition technology known as Smart Auto. Designed to simplify the way consumers take a photograph, Smart Auto analyzes key elements of the composition of the image such as color, brightness, motion, and subject, and then selects the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results possible.

The SL630 also features useful auto focusing options such as object tracking. Samsung's object tracking enables users to select any object or area within the frame and automatically program the camera to lock and keep its focus on the subject even if it's moving within the frame. In addition, the SL630 offers Samsung's Perfect Portrait System – a series of automatic technologies which take the guess work out of shooting beautiful portraits. Key features of the Perfect Portrait System include Face Detection, Samsung's Smile Shot and Blink Detection technologies, Red Eye Fix mode, and Beauty Shot.

Samsung also offers standard definition video recording in the new SL630. At a resolution of 640×480 and recording at 30 frames-per-second, consumers can switch from taking 12.2 megapixel digital stills to recording movies.

Review: Cannon EOS 50D Digital Camera

January 27th, 2010 by tyronehoover1955

Introduction of the Canon EOS 400D

The Canon introduced a lot of series in the line of the EOS that includes the Canon EOS 300D that has a 6 mega-pixels resolution, and also the Canon EOS 350D that was introduced a year. This review is base of the introduction of the Canon EOS 400D, which is regarded as the best among the previously digital camera introduced by Canon. One of which I would point that has a remarkable effect on the user is that the Canon EOS 400D has a 10 mega-pixels resolution.

The Lens of the Canon EOS 400D

Taking the frontal view of the 400D camera into consideration, one would discover that there are some similarities among the previously introduced camera by Canon such as the Canon EOS 300D, and the EOS 350D digital camera. A procurer is presented with an exceptional vast choice of lenses because of the steel bayonet that fits both EF and EF-S Lenses. A red spot is set aside for the EF lenses, as well as the white spot that indicates how to place the EF-S lens. The receiver for the optional remote control is hold by the handgrip. Between the handgrip and the bayonet is the positioning of the auto focus assistance illuminator and pointer for the self-timer. There is button to flip up the flash, the profundity of field control button, and the lens unlock button at the right of the bayonet mount.

Flash of the Canon EOS 400D

There is a flash shoe at the center of the Canon EOS 400D for external flashes at the center. The EOS 400D hold up the E-TTL II system. There is an internal flash at the front of the flash shoe. The command dial for the exposure programmes is found at the right of the prism. In the centre of the prism the automatic green mode is situated. Underneath it, is the present of the pre-programmed basic modes, at the same time as the other side holds the highly developed programmes. A user could activate and also deactivate the camera through the key button that is around the command dial.

LCD Monitor of the Canon EOS 400D

On the back camera, a user could notice the large LCD monitor. The 2.5-inch monitor size delivers a vast viewing angle of approximately 160 degrees both vertical and horizontal. The brightness has been amplified by 40% compared to the LCD displays of the EOS 5D among others because of the transparent screen and improved LED. The photographic instruction is now display on the large LCD monitor. An eye sensor is found above the LCD screen. The display is disabled the minute the EOS E400 is situated in front of the eye.

Buttons of the Canon EOS 400D

There are row of buttons on the left side of the camera. There is a usual phenomena with the Canon company, because the blue and white buttons are use to activate the playback images and footage recording respectively. A procurer could print JPEG photos directly from the camera without the use of a computer; this is quite handy to a lot of photographers globally. There is a switch to speedily leaf through the snapshots, whilst the indispensable recycle bin and image playback button. The Camera features a set of buttons at a circle, which performs vital photographic functions. It permits the user to speedily regulate the focus, the white balance and the sensitivity.

Memory Compartment of the Canon EOS 400D

The connections for the A/V Out is supported by the left side of the EOS 400D, the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed and the remote control, are all tidily kept out sight at the rear of a piece of rubber. The entrance to the compact-flash is situation at the right side of the EOS 400D. On the bottom side of the camera situated is a steel tripod mount.

Control of the Canon EOS 400D

The Canon EOS 400D was made for the interest of neophyte photographers that are searching for quality and users friendliness camera. The camera itself is self explanatory, which means a user does not have to go through the stress of reading the manual over and over again. A major advantage of this camera is that a user does not have to confirm all settings, through the Set Button.

The camera is very operational in the sense that it takes approximately 1 second to start up. When switching on the EOS 400D, the sensor cleaning system will be activated also. The main switch of this camera is positioned or placed in a strategy way that would enhance speedily activating of the camera.

Battery of the Canon EOS 400D

The NB2-LH Lithium Ion battery supplies power to the Canon EOS 400D. When fully and adequately charge the battery of the EOS 400D permits a user to capture up to 400 pictures. Fast re-charging of the battery is enhanced by the compact CB2-LW charger.

The dust reduction is one striking features that made the Canon EOS 400D more advanced than the other previously introduced digital camera by the Canon Company.
The price given to this camera is directly proportional to the functions it performs. Check your local shop for adequate pricing.

Seven Awesome Gadgets to Gift the Artsy Photographer

I taken a lot of Pix in the last couple of months - please tell me if you think they are good:

Rosen - roses by schwarzerose3485

Sony Camcorder billig kaufen Tell me if you like them - i love to discuss the photos with you!

The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 is a great mid-range camera for the amateur photographer who is looking for something with the simplicity of point-and-shoot as well as the ability for more creative control. The vast array of pre-programmed modes allow maximum flexibility in taking photographs in any kind of situation, and the manual override controls give you the freedom to take things to the next level. The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 also has the option of applying a variety of different accessory lenses, only furthering the ability to capture stunning photographs.

When I was in the market to buy a digital camera, I did quite a bit of searching in order to find the type of camera that would best suit my wide variety of photographic needs. I wanted a camera that would not only have the ease of casual photo opportunities with the kids in the back yard, but also have the features that would allow me to be a bit more creative with my photography. I quickly realized that the Kodak EasyShare Z7590 was the perfect camera for me.

The maximum 5 megapixel resolution meant that it would be more than capable of not only producing a quality 8 x 10 print, but it would also allow me the flexibility of cropping and manipulating my photos in a photo imaging software. The 2.2 inch high-resolution display screen meant that I would be able to clearly see a review of my photograph, whether I was indoors or out. Other features, like the high-speed, low-light precision auto-focus, continuous shooting and bracketing modes, and variety of exposure mode options made it even more of a sure bet.

The Kodak EasyShare Z7590 comes with 16 programmed scene modes including:

Portrait modes-portrait, self-portrait, night portrait, backlight

The will to exceed in sports has increased over the years and has reached such a state that even the minor aspects of the game are being inspected and analyzed by the use of technology which is getting the extra edge over competition. In every game played today, matches are played so close that the human errors by referee's can decide the fate of a match. We take a look at some of the most popular sports that have benefited immensely from these technologies, resulting in increased viewership.

With over a hundred nation's playing in six continents and competitions around the clock, football is indisputably the most played and followed game in the globe today, so it makes some sense to talk about the current technologies being used in a game of such a global appeal. Over the years live coverage of the matches has helped to increase the popularity of the game amongst viewers. Compared to the past lighter football's are manufactured these day's so that more goals are scored to make matches more tight. Tickets so in the FIFA 2006 world cup were chip based tickets to improve customer service and to ensure that every ticket was unique. This ensured that every customer gets his or her seat in the stadium. The Allianz-Arena in Munich which hosted some of the games in the World Cup2006 Germany, changed colors from red, blue and white according to the team that played, it makes sense to talk about the current technologies being employed in the game that has such global appeal. In addition to this the stadium also offered wireless connectivity to all its visitors through Wi-Fi connections throughout the beautiful stadium. Institute of Fraunhofer for Integrated Circuit in Erlangen, is working together with Cairos and Adidas to use a chip based ball which will determine if the ball has crossed the goal line or not. These balls are already tested in the under17 world cup that took place in Peru2006.

Another sport which has a huge fan following is the Formula-1 car racing with all the high speed cars moving at a speed of about 320kmph. In F-1 technology has been innovatively employed in the steering of the cars. The steering is full of buttons and knob's, some to adjust the air-fuel ratio, while some to provide fluids to the driver through a pipe under the helmet .since at such a high pace human errors are almost certain and it can cause huge damages both to the driver and the car, additional buttons are provided on the steering that maintains car's speed under 100kmph while in the pits. During the race the engineers make a Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis using high-end workstations to increase the efficiency and speed in the race.

In cricket which is more popular among the Asian people has the employment of technology such as SNICKOMETER to hear minute sounds coming out from the bat while the ball is played .another advancement is the DARTFISH which gives us the path or trajectory of the ball even after it is blocked by the batsman. Recently in the India -Sri Lanka test series 2008 , these technologies were put to test by bringing in the referral system in which each team has three referrals which can be used if in case the team's feel that the decision made by the umpires stand to be questioned. The referral is taken to the TV umpire who analyses the decision and gives a final verdict, in cricket a camera is kept inside the stumps to take close pictures and a sound meter to hear noises.

These are few technologies that have been employed in sports and we can wait for more cutting edge technologies to be employed in the days to come. Hope that use of technologies increases the quality of sports and improves the competition.
