You want to know how to get your ex back fast? Then stop dilly-dallying and work it! Yes, it seems the sky has fallen down on you hard but, come on, there always ways to make your relationship work again.

Time is of the essence here whether you like it or not. The old adage ‘if you love somebody, set him/her free, if he/she comes back then it is meant to be’ almost does not apply in this situation! Your ex is very attractive and in no time there will be someone who wants to win your ex over.

So, you have to act quickly but do not fence your ex around. Is that weird and confusing? It is actually not complicated. You have to move smoothly and quickly without suffocating your ex with your presence but instead she will long for your being around her. When that happens then be like a cobra ready to strike. There, so here are 3 fast tips on how to get your ex back. Just remember, fast is relative to precision in this scenario.

Tip 1: Assess and accept. Pride has no place if you want to get your ex back. If you want to know how to get your ex back then swallow that pride and look back at your faults. Assess why your relationship had fallen apart. Ask yourself what went wrong in your part. Try to remember the old you that your ex fell for. Accept these faults but it does not end here. You have to work on your lapses. Try to be a better person for you to become a better half for your ex.

Tip 2: Talk. This is a cliché but this is how to get your ex back. Communication is a crucial part in a relationship. Try to talk to your ex in a regular basis. Do not ever fight and argue. Be pleasant, please. Doing such will convey a message to your ex that your are a matured and better person now. That is a real attractive trait. Talk about anything. If your conversation has reached talking about ’sweet nothings’ then this is a great sign that you are nearing fast getting your ex back!

Tip 3: Date. Invite your ex once in-a-while to some friendly date. Go out and do something your ex enjoys doing. Better yet, do something that your ex has been dying to try but never did when you were together. Enjoy the moment. Create that bonding through the experience in your activities together. One thing to remember though, please do not attempt to be over romantic. Just go with the flow and let your ex realize that you are a better person now to be with. If you see your ex sincerely happy and a few sincere smiles pop up once in a while then be very happy because you have just won your ex, all you have to do is follow up.

Beautiful Mess: The Story of Diamond Rio (NelsonFree)

September 1st, 2010 by metaboyfriend

A Decent read - Stormi Johnson - Missouri, USA
I have not read many autobiographies, so when the opportunity came my way to review this book I thought it would be great to read. I loved Diamond Rio when I was younger and I thought it would be fascinating to read about how they got together, etc.

The book starts out with the reader learning that things were not going so well with Diamond Rio. The lead singer Marty Roe couldn’t sing on key anymore. It was a real trying time for them and if Marty couldn’t fix the problem with his vocal cords then the group would have to break up.

Then the book takes a chapter for each of the band members and sort of gives you there life story from when they were small to when the group gets together under a different name at the time called the Tennessee River Boys. The one thing that bothers me is the chapters seem sort of short and do no contain enough information since it is a autobiography I believe it should be a bit more revealing and more personal than biographies are, so I found it a bit lacking.

Then after the chapters on each band member it takes you through the wild ride they have had together and then back to the original problem of Marty’s voice and how it gets fixed. Yes, you can say that Diamond Rio’s ride through country music has been A Beautiful Mess, but I just think the book could have been a bit better.

I would recommend it to anyone who loves reading autobiographies because it is a decent book.

Herbal Uses of Primrose

August 31st, 2010 by metaboyfriend

Primrose is a flower that has medicinal properties of those of the Cowslip. It has a root-stock, knotty with the succeeding base of fallen leaves and resembles a cylindrical, branched of rootlets on every side. The leaves are shaped like eggs and oblong, have a smooth surface, hairy veins prominent underneath, and irregularly toothed edges. The flowers grow on separate stalks.

The entire flower and its roots can be used as herbal medicine. The roots of a three-year-old plant can be used and dug during autumn. They should be thoroughly rinsed with a brush in cold water. Remember that they should not be placed for a long period of time submerged in water. The small fibers should be trimmed off. If there are large roots, they can be separated lengthwise to assist in drying. The roots and flowers of a primrose both contain fragrant oils that can be useful in treating several ailments.

Primrose’s has antispasmodic, astringent, expectorant, and emetic properties. It is known for being an essential remedy in muscular rheumatism, paralysis, and gout. The whole plant can be used as a sedative and in recent times, a tincture of the fresh plant in full bloom at 10 ounces and 1 pint of alcohol has been used effectively in treating severe allergies, restlessness, and difficulty of sleeping. A concoction of the flowers was previously considered excellent in curing nervous hysterical disorders. The mixture may be made of 5 to 10 portions of the petals to 100 ml of water. In the current herbal medicine, the combination of the root is usually taken in tablespoonful dosage. They generally are good treatment for nervous headaches. A teaspoonful of the pulverized dry roots can also serve as emetic. With all those medicinal uses, primrose is not just a flower but a good herbal medicine too.

Keep Your Colons Fuss-Free

One of the physiologic needs of human beings is food. Since the existence of mankind, humans have never stopped eating. We have been eating different varieties of food, and for years we have been used to ignoring our colon. For each time we eat, there will be additional food to be digested. These foods will be filtered and the waste products which our body can’t digest will be brought to the colon, and wait for it to be eliminated. There are some types of food which remains in the colon, and this is commonly referred to as toxins.

Over the years, these toxins build up in the colon, and if these are disregarded, it could cause diseases such as malignancies, which we all know causes colon carcinoma. So, it is important to be watchful of what we eat. But, we all know this is tough especially when we are surrounded by a lot of tempting junk foods and other types of preservatives. Have You Fallen Victim to POPP - Procrastination, Over-Analysis, Perfection & Paralysis?

August 28th, 2010 by metaboyfriend

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In her book entitled Our Invisible Supply, Frances Larimer Warner quotes: “Spirit is substance which forms itself according to your demands and must have a pattern from which to work. A pan of dough is as willing to be formed into bread as biscuits. It makes little difference to Spirit what we demand.”

That is a very interesting and revealing statement indeed and although I personally do not fully buy into this whole New Age school of thought that states You Are What You Think (in other words the direction of your life, success or failure, is almost purely dependent on your thoughts, negative or positive) I fully acknowledge the awesome, if little appreciated and recognized power, of the subconscious mind.

How Your Dream Got Stolen!

The subconscious mind is a truly amazing thing, filing away every experience, every emotion, every memory or even every thought that ever crossed your mind! One would think then that with such a powerful computer at our disposal we should all be geniuses or failing that, at least we should all be runaway successes at what we do.

But alas, as I’m sure you are well aware the story unfortunately rarely ever unfolds that way. And this is why:

Remember when you were kid, nothing seemed impossible right? I mean Superman and Spidey were just as real as the guy who lived down the block…except they were a little bit more real because they had superpowers. You see in a young child’s mind nothing is impossible which in part explains why kids’ are ever so impressionable.

A growing number of people now believe that a child begins to learn whilst still a fetus in the womb accounting for the ever spreading habit of parents singing (too commonly out of tune), talking, playing Mozart to tiny and as-yet-unborn baby! The school of thought along these lines may also explain the prevalent tendency nowadays to start schooling kids at ever younger ages in the hopes that it would bestow upon the child the necessary edge to pull ahead of its peers.

Arguing the relative merits of these beliefs is beyond the scope of this article, but suffice it to say that a child’s growing mind is like a super absorbent sponge sucking up all the data available to it like so much water.

Anything Possible Becomes All Impossible!

But then something goes terribly wrong! Where before the child believed anything and everything was possible, as the child grows up its universe of everything possible rapidly shrinks! Why? Because of the effect of nurture which in this context refers to socio-environmental factors.

How often as a kid did you hear the word “NO” or were you told the refrain “stop acting like a child” or “stop thinking like a child” as if child were a dirty word. Thus just like that, in fairly short thrift, your kiddie mind was subtly and ever-so-easily reprogrammed to conform to the conventional world with all its boundaries and strictures of impossibilities!

The fact is, to function and perform in everyday society, we need some degree of education or at the very least a set of skills that enables us to do so. Problem is, during the course of that education and acquisition of those skills our mind gets reprogrammed to pattern itself along conventional lines.

And unfortunately all that reprogramming comes neatly packaged with all the negative psychological baggage inherent to conventional society. This reversible yet recalcitrant reprogramming is why so many of us who’d like to flick convention the finger and leave the five-to-nine world of employee hell are simply too scared to!

That’s because we are still under POPP’s thumb!

POPP: Procrastination, Over-analysis, Perfection and Paralysis!

A lot of us are victims of POPP yet we don’t even know it. Let’s take procrastination for example, there’s almost nothing easier than this very activity; or more accurately put…lack thereof. All one has to do is make a commitment then just as quickly or as nonchalantly, as the case may be, counter with an equal commitment not to commit to the first commitment.

Put simply, procrastination is the practice of postponing activities that should and need to be tackled but for some reason or other we find excuses not to.

Quite frequently, the reason for procrastination is because the task at hand often involves more effort and time than we are willing to devote! However in many cases there’s a much deeper and more disturbing reason rooted within that habit of procrastination. That reason far too often is:

The Fear Of Change; Leaving The Comfort Zone!

Our deep rooted fear of change often boils down to a subconscious fear of failure. It is very easy to remain in one’s comfort zone without necessarily being happy so long as that comfort zone attends to the basic needs for survival which include: food, shelter, companionship etc. One need not be happy with the status quo but so long as the basic essentials of survival are covered most people will grudgingly continue their safe yet unhappy existence to the bitter end.

That is why so many success stories are dramatic tales of down-n-out woes to dizzying success! Because those individuals were at rock bottom and really had nowhere left to go but up! In the truest sense those individuals had nothing to lose but everything to gain by striving for personal success.

Lyric in the Chorus of The Deadly POPP Quartet!

It is perhaps one of the simpler achievements in life to become part of the lyrics in the song of the Deadly POPP Quartet; after all self-denial is so easy and ever so convenient!

Perfectionism Is The Cousin Of Procrastination

Procrastination (aarrrgggh) is such a dirty and ugly word, so why not simply avoid it altogether by conceding that you are a perfectionist instead? I mean people have a grudging respect for perfectionists don’t they? Sure…a perfectionist may not achieve much in a given time frame, but remember their favorite mantra is that quality takes time!

Or perhaps if you don’t want to be grouped or merely feel you are unworthy to fall under the umbrella of the Perfectionist Crowd you could always insist that you haven’t finished analyzing the situation yet! (Hmmm…I wonder how many battles were ever won on account of over-analysis?)

Bottom line, whichever way you paint it, the end picture is still going to be the same shade…apathy and paralysis! If you truly want to achieve personal success you need to get rid of that subconscious fear of failure, throw away POPP’s master plan and get out there and grab your slice of success!

In closing, here’re a couple of quotes to help motivate you on your journey of success (alas I cannot recall who the names of authors of the quotes).

The Only Fear You Need Fear Is Fear Itself; and

It Is Better To Have Tried And Failed Than To Never Have Tried At All!

Horse Color Explained - Common and Uncommon Colours For Horses and Ponies

August 27th, 2010 by metaboyfriend

Did you know?

The coat colour of your horse or pony can tell you what colour they are. If you are not sure what color your horse or pony really is, have a look at the colour of the ‘points.’

The ‘points’ of your horse are the muzzle, tips of the ears, the mane, the tail, and the lower part of the legs. Remember they could have white markings on some of these points that may trick you!

The colours of horses include:

Black: black all over including the points, mane and tail. Look at the colour of the muzzle - it will be black. In this horse colour your horse or pony will not have brown around the muzzle!

Brindle: this rare horses colouring has drippy striping that is not regularly spaced on the horses coat, and brindle horses often have a vertical flank striping. Brindle horses are unlike other colour of horses and once seen are not forgotten!

Brown: brown or dark brown all over, sometimes nearly black. The colour of the muzzle tells you they are brown even if the mane and tail and legs are black.

Bay: a light brown or a red brown colour with black points and black mane and tail. This is a common horse color that is often call ‘brown’ by someone who is not familiar with horses.

Chestnut: a ginger or yellow brown colour. The points of the horse are brown - similar to the coat colour or lighter. Chestnuts are never black.

Grey: a mixture of black and white hairs. Variations of grey include: ‘dapple grey’ when there are more black hairs than white; ‘light grey’ when there are more white hairs than black; and ‘flea-bitten’ has flecks of black or brown hairs on a white coat. The foal colours in grey horses and ponies vary. They are often born much darker and become lighter as they get older.

Piebald: large patches of black and white. This is a horse coat colour that has different names in different areas of the world. This equine colour can also be called paint or pinto

Skewbald: large patches of any other colour than black and white. This is another colour in a horse that has different names in different areas of the world. This equine color can also be called paint or pinto

Palomino: Golden yellow coat, (ideally the colour of a newly minted gold coin) with a white mane and tail. This one is my favourite pony color!

Appaloosa: spotted coat mostly either brown spots on a white coat or white spots as a blanket on a brown coat. This is another horse color where the foal colour can be different at birth, and some are born with no appaloosa markings.

Dun: mousey brown to golden yellow with black points, mane and tail.

Blue roan: white hairs through a mostly black or dark brown coat. The points are black.

Red roan: white hairs through a bay coat. The points are black.

Strawberry roan: white hairs through a chestnut coat. The points are the same as a chestnut horse.

The horse colorings of grey horses and roan horses are often confused, but the roan has a solid color head and legs. Roan foals are born roan, while grey or gray horses are often born much darker and grow more grey hairs as they grow older

Goodbye Dear Tree - The Story of a Fallen Oak

August 27th, 2010 by metaboyfriend

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Rochester, Minnesota, USA was founded in 1854. The early settlers valued trees so much they marked their locations and types on maps. When my husband and I bought our home there were three oak trees in the yard. We really loved the tree by our deck. It was there when the early settlers arrived and, according to one expert, the tree was about 200 years old.

Robins, juncos, finches, mourning doves and cardinals rested on its branches. Squirrels built nests in the top of the tree. Deer bedded down for the night beneath its shade and shelter. Flocks of turkeys waddled through the woods. Watching the wildlife and the tree’s seasonal changes were spiritual experiences for us.

Several years ago the tree became diseased. We called a tree expert and he injected the tree with chemicals. But the disease continued to spread. Again, we had the tree injected and the crew covered the damaged area with wire mesh to discourage woodpeckers. All of these efforts failed.

“It’s going to fall down,” the tree expert said. “I don’t know when, but I’m worried about it falling on your house.” My husband and I worried even more about the tree falling on other houses. We didn’t want to cut the tree down, but had no choice.

The tree crew, four strong men wearing hardhats, arrived at 7:15 a.m. with a cherry picker truck. They had to wait for a rain storm to pass before they could start work. Forty-five minutes later, the crew leader, holding a chain saw in his hands, waved to us from the cherry picker. Hovering over the top of the tree, he cut one branch, and then another.

All day, we heard grinding chain saws and the thud of branches. The ground crew sawed the branches into logs. In removing the tree we were removing history, a link with the settlers who had the courage to come here, and live off the land. How would the yard look without the tree? What would our lives be like?

“The logs are so heavy that we have to lift them out with a crane,” the company owner said. “It will be here soon.” The crane parked in front of the house and the operator swung its arm over the roof. “Watch out for the chimney!” the owner exclaimed. Now we were really nervous.

Neighbors came by to see the crane in action. As the sun dipped lower in the sky the log pile grew higher. The pile was so large that traffic had to be diverted around it. The crane hoisted the logs into a truck and they were taken away. The job was done. We went out on the deck to look at the results.

A large stump and sawdust were all that remained. But the image of the magnificent oak, its colors changing with the seasons, stayed in our minds. “Goodbye dear tree,” I called. “We will always miss you.”

Double Trouble

August 26th, 2010 by metaboyfriend

Double Trouble Explains why Elvis went back Live on stage… - Patrick Selitrenny - Switzerland a.k.a. Helvetia Felix
Although “Double Trouble” was made a year before his famous “NBC Comeback Special”, and there were yet some other bad movies in store for him, before his movie career finally came to an end, this is one perfect example of why his Actor’s days were finally numbered.

In a way it revealed itself a blessing, since the plots became carbon copies of each other, in which all he had to do anyway, was to look smart and to sing songs. A thing he could do much better on a live stage.

“Double Trouble” was a vehicle for the “King” for European audiences, just as “G.I. Blues” had attempted seven years earlier.
Unfortunately, this effort backfired and the movie had cold receptions in Europe, except maybe in Belgium, where the movie is supposed to take place.

Its plot is a typical cliched slapstick comedy with romance interwoven in it, here and there, just to allow Elvis to do what he was good at.

Banal and shabby, just meant for Elvis fans, it is a very forgettable movie, perhaps to join other bad movies like “Change of Habit”, “Harum Scarum” and
“The Trouble with Girls”.

The transfer of it on DVD on the contrary, is very well done, with a very fine resolution and sharp colors. The sound also has been taken care of, and although conventional, sparkles for its clarity.

Just recommended for die-hard Elvis fans. For the others, I would recommend to stick to his earlier movies, such as “Wild in the Country” or “King Creole”.
: A case of mistaken identity has Elvis and a beautiful girl enmeshed in a smuggler’s plot and an attempted murder in Europe.
