Genius Playlists

A few clicks on iPod nano, and Genius uses that song to find other songs in your library and makes a Genius playlist for you. How it Works
You’ll notice how smoothly and easily VoiceOver works. A lot of thought went into creating an iPod nano that not only talks, but says the right things. It all begins with iTunes and its seamless integration with iPod nano. First, iTunes reads your song information, then uses the VoiceOver Kit to generate the announcements for the songs, artists, and playlists. Just sync your iPod nano to your computer and it really speaks to you.

It Speaks Multiple Languages
Your music library has songs from all over the world–a love song from France, a bolero from Spain, a pop tune from Japan. Luckily, VoiceOver speaks fluent song.

iTunes selects the language and best voice for your song titles and artist names. It looks at song data, like the title, artist, and album information, then applies intelligent algorithms to choose the right language. For example, iTunes recognizes the song “Ya Viene el Sol� by Ozomatli as a Spanish song, so your iPod nano will automatically speak that song title and artist in Spanish. This miniscule product delivers a lot of music and some audio very well. It also has a built-in camera for, I suppose, filming public servants misusing their authority and also for capturing nice moments with family and friends. It’s especially useful for walks and at the gym. The instructions which came with the product were too succinct for older people such as me. Better instructions are available on line.

broke after one week - MySQL_Guy -
After 1 week my ipod Nano just stopped working. I returned it to an Apple store and they immediately replaced the ipod with an identical model. After 3 weeks, I have not had any problems with the replacement. During my research into the problem I learned that they are very vulnerable to liquids and that Apple will not honor the warrantee in the case of liquid damage. Fortunately, that did not happen in my case. However, I had been planning to use this ipod during my long distance running. Obviously, an ipod would be a bad choice for that purpose.

First the bad which are minor.
1. I would like it if the tune and volume controls were not so close together but it is a minor thing.
2. The connection cable ends in 2 RCA connectors. They include an adapter that plugs these into with a male 3.5 mm standard plug. The problem with this set up is there are going to be some situations where it is going to be very hard to plug in because of the size of the adapter. I can just barely plug it into my flat panel TV because of this. I promptly ordered a short extension off Amazon which will fix this. Again it is a minor thing.
Now the good. These use replaceable AAA rechargeables. They come with 2 and I have some already so I was ready to go. I bought these to watch TV at night. I work odd hours so I often want to watch TV while the Wife is sleeping. Had been using a set of headphones with an extension cord which of course works, but is a PITA. I had looked at some of these that were cheaper and saw a lot of bad reviews. These work great, sound is about the same as the headphones I had been using, and no more wire in the way.
So I decided to see how they sound with music. Plugged into an MP3 player in bedroom and walked around the house. Sound quality is about the same as a set of cheap wired headphones. You do need to have the volume up all the way at the source to keep the hiss out. Now if you are expecting great sound quality, no you will not get it. This same company makes some of these that cost 3 times as much so I expect they would sound much better. Bottom line for the price of these you get your moneys worth.

This works on my Samsung Plasma. I plugged the base unit into the wall and into the audio 3.5 jack on the back of my TV. Just go to tv menu and turn set the audio to external speaker. Works perfectly. There is a tuner wheel and volume wheel on the headphones to eliminate any buzz or static. They work all throughout my house.

Note the base unit needs to be near the tv, stereo or other device since it has to be plugged into the audio output.

Okay, so you’re thinking of buying an iPod. You’ve seen the iPod Touch and you’ve been blown away. Who wouldn’t be? It’s a great little gizmo. You can do a lot with it, surf the web, play Tetris, learn Japanese, do e-mail, play music and so much more, but if you’re like me and have more music than you can shake a stick and you want to carry it with you wherever you go, then the iPod Touch just might not cut the mustard, storage wise.

If it’s just music or videos you want an iPod for. Or if you have an iPhone and you need a second device to carry around your music, then I’d heartedly recommend a 5th Gen iPod. Read on and see why.

I was cruising Amazon, checking out small hard drives, as I wanted to carry all my music around with me. I somehow wound up the page for the Apricorn Bio Hard Drive, a beautiful little beauty, to be sure, but I don’t really need to protect my music from prying eyes, or ears for that matter. However, I clicked on over to their website and I found something much better than an external drive. I found their upgrade kit for the 5th Generation iPods and I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.

If you’ve got either the 5th Generation 30GB, the 60GB or the 80GB you are in luck, because not only do you have one great machine, but you can make it outstanding. Apple’s current iPod Classic carries 160GB of storage, with the upgrade from Apricorn you can turn your 5th Gen 30GB iPod into a 120GB beauty and Apricorn throws in a new 580mAH battery with the hard drive along with all the direction and the tools you’ll need to do the job yourself. Yeah, you don’t have to send your machine to Apple to replace that battery. It’s not that hard.

But what if you’ve got a 5th Gen 60 or 80GB iPod. Well for over half a C note less than what a new iPod Classic costs, you can upgrade the iPod you have with 240GB of storage, yeah, 240 gigs, that’s a lot of music. And you get a new battery with this upgrade, too. So, how hard is the upgrade to do. It took me twenty minutes, it’s easier than you’d think. Once finished, hook the iPod up to you’re computer and let iTunes do it’s magic and you’re good to go.

The 5th Gen iPod is a solid music player even without upgrading. It’s easy enough to sink it with iTunes and change the music on it. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to anyone, but if you want more, well you can have it.

I had ordered the newest Ipod until I started doing some research and found that after the 5.5 generation the sound chip was changed. This unit was for my car and it is crystal clear compared to a 6th of 7th generation. Battery life doesn’t matter to me because my car keeps it charged. Great unit. Too bad Apple had to change the chip since 160 gigs would have been fun. But that’s ok..80 is working out just fine!

Great value. Very small and light. Great battery life. Easy to use. Excellent performance. Integrates well with Dragon voice recognition program but you should use the highest voice quality - which forces you to into the mode resulting in the shortest recording capacity. Newer units continue to have progressively higher storage capacity so consider capacity you need more than 4 hours of recording time. Otherwise this is an excellent unit. Lower quality settings yield longer times (up to 22 hours) but those settings don’t work nearly as well with VR. (note that this is not the fault of the recorder and thus is not a criticism by me)

If you work in a corporate environment and dock this to your work PC it will automatically upload the audio files which is extremely convenient BUT the uploaded files can count against your email storage allotment if you don’t pay attention to how you set this thing up. This is easy to deal with but you must understand basic file management which can be a bit daunting for a novice PC user.

I have arthritis and take notes slowly. This handy device allows me to take down my instructors’ notes and not have to worry about missing the lecture; I can always download the lecture and listen to it later. The HQ and SL recording levels are excellent. The recordings are crisp. I also use it for training sessions at work. The music (MP3)uses are fair, nothing special. It’s as a recording device, that it shines. Beware: if you don’t use if for a while, it will sometimes convert to Japanese icons. If that happens, have the serial number ready and call up customer support; they will take you through the steps to reprogram it.

its very sturdy aluminum casing. It records excellent audio from the speakers of an auditorioum even when there is a large audience present. its very easy to use. its small enough that you can put it in your shirt pocket. And
I have a Mac and it sinchronizes perfectly with it.
On the normal mode of recording can record up to 13 hours and the batteries last a good 13 to 15 hours.
I would recommend this product. even though its a bit pricey. If it wasn’t because of the price…i would give it 5 stars.

I originally had a pair of these that came with my Creative Zen Micro, and I was always pleased with their upper and lower ranges of sound quality and fit. When it came time to buy a new pair of headphones after an unfortunate accident, I didn’t look at any others to replace m old ones. The only problem with these new ones is that the foamie covers tend to fall off fairly frequently and it gets worse with use.

An alright set of headphones - C. Niemi -
I got a set of these for free with my Zen Wav, and they did a pretty good job for stock earphones. The sound quality was decent(although I’m far from an audiophile, so your opinion may vary) and they held up fairly well. I’ve recently had to start fiddling with the cord to get any sound from the left earphone, although I’ve had them for about a year and a half and aren’t particularly gentle with them. The cloth covers do have an annoying habit of slipping off if you’re not careful, as others have mentioned.

Overall, nothing outstanding but these aren’t exactly a top-of-the-line pair of earphones in the first place, and you’re not paying top-of-the-line prices for them.

Weak build quality Charger - Dennison Philip T. Tan -
I received the products in a US Postal Service box. The items worked fine out of the box but looked increadibly cheap and light. Unfortunately, the Wall Charger didn’t last long, lasting all of 5 minutes. I noticed some kind of spark and it died. Am just glad that my Zen Vision M wasn’t damaged out of it.

As for the car charger, it still works. The A/V cable is the only thing I’m really happy about with the package. It seems sturdy with thick cables.

I would recommend the A/V cable and probably the car charger but not the wall charger.

Both chargers do the job theywere intended for well enough. My only complaint is that the cords are a litte short on all of them. But I suppose for the price that is about what you can expect.
